Most incidents involving exploding batteries are often linked to overcharging, using the wrong chargers, and using fake batteries and chargers. Lithium-ion batteries are common in consumer electronics. They are one of the most popular types of rechargeable batteries for portable electronics, with a high energy density, no memory effect, and only a slow loss of charge when not in use.
In this recent post by Facebook user Stephen Go Tan, he shows us how his wife survived a battery explosion from her cellphone. Thankfully, she did not sustain any serious injuries after the explosion. According to the victim, she was merely holding the phone when she felt it starting to heat up. She put down the phone, and that was when the phone’s battery started to bloat and exploded soon enough. Apparently, the phone was bought in Korea, but the victim is hoping that their warranty will be honored in any Samsung store.
